India's first franchise-based U17 inter-school sports league. Little in age. Big in spirit. Enormous in potential.
"Every legend has a first moment. Not the moment they lifted the trophy. Not the moment the crowd roared. The first moment was quieter. It was the moment a whistle blew on a school ground somewhere in India, and a child ran."
India produces exceptional sporting talent at the grassroots level every year. Millions of students compete in school tournaments across the country. Almost none of it gets seen beyond the school gate. City and state tournaments generate no national media coverage, offer no broadcast visibility, and provide no formal pathway for talent to be noticed by senior coaches or national selectors.
The LBL was built to change that. A nationally visible platform for school athletes. A data-driven performance pipeline. A formal pathway from franchise contracts to state and national leagues. A sporting culture where school athletes have franchise pride, media presence, and a career they can aspire to.
From school ground to grand finals — a three-month competitive season built for school athletes.
Every franchise fields teams across all five disciplines. Four of the five sports are current Olympic disciplines.
LBL has been building its school sport ecosystem for years. These events laid the groundwork for Season 1.
A multi-school football marathon organised by School of Sports — one of the earliest large-scale inter-school football competitions run under the LBL banner. Schools from across Chennai competed in a high-intensity, continuous format that tested endurance, teamwork and technical skill across age groups. The event became a proof-of-concept for the LBL's vision of creating visible, competitive platforms for school athletes beyond the standard school tournament.
An online chess tournament organised for MSSA (Maharashtra State Secondary and Higher Secondary Association) — bringing school chess players onto a competitive digital platform. Conducted fully online, the tournament demonstrated SOS's ability to run structured, multi-participant school sporting events in formats beyond physical venues. Chess as a sport reflects the LBL's philosophy that competitive sport develops strategic thinking and mental discipline alongside physical performance.
Season 1 is happening. There are three ways to be part of it.
